On Friday, March 16, 2018 we were contacted by the Yurga Skincare company to shoot some of their high-end beauty products. You can read about their products on their website at http://www.yurgaskincare.com/. The first step was to meet with the client and discuss their photography need and the targeted medium for the photos (i.e., website, social media, prints, etc.). And, to educate ourselves more about the products and its intended use for considerations of the photography styles that would produce the most desired effects.
In this case we decided to shoot the products in one of our product tents with three lights positioned at the top, and the sides as shown in the picture above . We tested several lighting ratios before commencing the shoot and settled on what we call prominent display photo style which appears almost 3D when looked at and produce very attractive looks. An example is shown below.
The shoot itself took about 2.5 hours. Editing took few days. One known fact is that almost all professional product photos need retouching and many product items require intensive retouching more actually than humans in many cases. And, this is one of the factors that we base our pricing on when taking to clients.
